IE Media is a newsletter by Intersectional Environmentalist (IE), a 501c3 eco-media company on a mission to inspire climate action through the power of art, education, and storytelling. In this publication, we are excited to spotlight the artists, stories, leaders, and activists fostering climate action and collective resilience.

Why donate through Substack?

Now more than ever, it’s critical to support community - and we believe the most powerful way to do so is through storytelling. IE Media is rooted in deepening belonging through diverse local stories to drive climate awareness and action.

Paid contributors to the IE Media newsletter can expect:

  • Full access to The Future is Intersectional: a brand new art and storytelling series sharing tangible visions that artists of all mediums across the country have for our collective futures. Our aim is to inspire hope by unlocking important lessons, advice, and perspectives from artists that lead to transformative change.

  • Early access to and exclusive BTS content from The Joy Report: a climate optimism podcast dedicated to sharing stories about climate solutions and environmental justice, hosted by Arielle V. King.

  • A surprise monthly digital gift, such as exclusive IE designs, webinars, and more.

  • The entire IE Media archive, which will include IE's top evergreen resources, written interviews, guides, art, and more.

  • Founding contributors will receive a personal Intro to IE Training Session and a surprise IE Reading List book from a Black-owned book store.

FAQs

Why is IE joining Substack?

Due to the ever-shifting nature of today’s algorithms, which often deprioritize diverse stories and content, we’re excited to embark on our first Substack newsletter so you can receive IE updates straight to your inbox.

With doomscrolling and eco-anxiety at an all-time high, we want to make it easier for folks to maintain a sense of climate optimism. We’re excited to do that through our Artivist storytelling series and our podcast, The Joy Report, by bringing our work directly to your inbox.

Why is there a paid donation program?

We can’t do this work without support - and with diverse programs and organizations now under attack, it’s more important than ever to continue amplifying the stories of inspiring artists and climate leaders on the ground.

By developing a paid donation program, we can ensure the sustainability of our organization so we can focus on what we do best: creating eco-media for all.

Are payments tax deductible?

Yes! Please reference the LINK HERE on where to find your tax-deductible donation receipts directly in. Substack.

Why does IE focus on art and storytelling?

Art and storytelling have been a part of nearly every progressive movement throughout history. Through art, we invite and encourage important dialogues that raise awareness about topical issues. And through storytelling, we shift hearts and minds using the voices of those most impacted by climate issues.

We believe that through these two mediums, we can more meaningfully imbue education that will empower everyone towards climate action.
